BACKFLOW
What Is Backflow Testing?
Backflow testing is a critical process that ensures your drinking water remains safe and uncontaminated. A backflow preventer is a mechanical device installed in plumbing systems to stop water from flowing in the wrong direction. Without proper functioning, contaminated water from irrigation systems, boilers, fire suppression systems, or other sources could flow back into the clean water supply—posing a serious health risk.
Backflow can be caused by changes in water pressure, such as during a water main break or high demand from fire hydrants. Routine backflow testing ensures these devices are working properly to prevent pollutants, chemicals, and bacteria from entering your water system.
Why Backflow Prevention Matters
- Protect Public Health: Prevent contaminants like fertilizers, pesticides, or industrial waste from entering drinking water.
- Stay Compliant: Local and state regulations often require annual backflow certification for businesses and homes.
- Avoid Costly Fines & Shutdowns: Failure to maintain certified devices can result in compliance violations, penalties, or even business disruption.
- Peace of Mind: Know your facility or home is protected by a reliable backflow prevention system tested by certified professionals.
